The wife has just been stopped for singing whilst driving her car.

She was driving along with the roof down, in a queue of traffic, 4 plod going the other way in a patrol car came around roundabout and caught up with her. Flashed lights and signalled for her to pull over.

She got out to be told "you're not concentrating on your driving" her response was "sorry, what's wrong with my driving" to which he responded "you should pay more attention to driving and less to your vocal skills"

She laughed at him, and after some exchange of views between both of them was told she'd be let off this time!!

She did say she questioned his mental capacity somewhat, apparently to the amusement of the 2 in the back of the police car.

Now I guess from this sort of approach it'll soon be illegal to talk to a passenger, blink, belch or fart whilst in control of a motor vehicle.

I personally couldn't believe it, what an absolute pr*ck

2 in the back of the car?

What was happening there then????

Does sound a bizarre reason to stop someone......like I usually point out...if a punter is worth stopping they are worth 'pegging' and I can't think of a 'pegging' offence for your wife in the scenario you describe.

pegging=prosecuting/fixed penalty or report on summons

Apparently 4 coppers in the car.

I know her singings not that good, but even I wouldn't say it was illegal

Report them? For what? Stopping a driver and informing her that her 'singing' might be detracting her concentration from her driving...

Whilst I agree, the incident is a little bizarre and I certainly wouldn't have stopped her in those circumstances...

I'm not sure what 'Reporting' the officer would do...

Presumably, they were not rude, offensive, uncivil etc etc...

If not, i'm afraid they were doing nothing wrong....

It's a bit laughable really...but the jump on the 'compain against the police' bandwagon is another example of why certain police officers are loathed to give a motorist the 'benefit of the doubt...as when the cards are turned...the motorist might be all too eager to get the 'dig' in first...

No she didn't get their numbers, I actually think she was too busy laughing at him. She did say the tears in her eyes from laughing were probably more of a handicap to her driving as she drove away.

She's a bit concerned about reporting it, we live in a small town and her car is very noticable, she's worried about getting 'marked'

I doubt very much about any revenge on the part of the police.....but like I said in my post earlier....it hardly warrants a bleeding complaint for goodness sake...

you're right, it's more funny than anything. She was really mad by the time she got home, but I don't think she's really concerned enough to want to report it.

As you say what's the point, and no he wasn't rude, uncivil or anything, just a bit stupid I guess.

I know mate.....I'm not biting...hope it doesn't come across like that..

it's just that complaining about the police for bollox piddling little jobs like this is like the race card.

It gets used too often and when someone really has a genuine complaint where a copper is really out of order...it's not treated with the importance it deserves...but can be 'just another member of public who doesn't like to be told what to do'...when in fact they might have a genuine complaint...

If the cop had called the lady a 'silly cow' or had said 'women should be at home at not behind the wheel'...perhaps a visit to the Inspector at the nick might be in order. But for this? Nah...

I always try...

but for the life of my I can't SEE the other side in this...

The lady thinks it's funny and laughable....her husband is peeved off as another man has stopped and bollocked his wife (i'd feel the same)...

but the need to "complain"...waste of time and totally unnecessary....IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES ON THIS OCCASION

Just spoken to her on the phone, she said she's got no intention of reporting them, she finds the whole thing a bit pathetic now she's had time to think about it.

She actually feels she made more of a point by laughing about it and dismissing him as a bit of a

I totally agree now I've had time to settle down, must admit I wasn't intending to start a row, I was just so annoyed that the felt the need to pull someone over such a stupid thing.

It's things like this that once they're relayed a few times in the pub end up blown out of all proportion and certainly don't do much for the public's image of the police.

I guess none of us really think things through all the time before we act, and he certainly didn't with this one. Has it caused any real damage, no not in this instance.

No need to complain, she should have given them a right bloody mouthful though.

Its jobsworths like this that are harming the reputation of the good ones...
