B+ main cable down to starter. check.
D+ alternator warning light check.
W I don't seem to have a wire for this, but would I be right in assuming that's the sensor wire connection? And does every one else have one connected?
I've just read somewhere it's for a suppressor?

I think the W terminal is a direct connection to 1 stator winding and obviously produces AC Voltage if it is, I could be wrong as I have been many times in the past. Google is your friend

If memory serves me the Range Rover Classic uses the W terminal to drive the rev counter.
May only be the diesels.
