Whyte 605 experience

Hi, I'm looking for a cheap(is!) mountain bike to do some light trail riding with my kids.

I was in my LBS looking at a few secondhand bikes, and I ended up having a quick go on a Whyte 605 that felt just right, but rather more expensive than budget.

However, more chatting, haggling, and C2W discussion later I can get a 2016 model for a very reasonable sum. Anyone got any experience of the 2016 model? Is it similar to the 2017 model (in feel, rather than details of the spec differences)?
