Buying a high mileage car?
Discussion
Looking around for a new car and i've set my sights upon a Renault megané 09 plate.
the car has 90k miles but comes with 6 service stamps the mot unitl jan 18, with the timing belt changed at 78k and only 2 previous owners.
I've had a lot of answers on this and most are usually don't buy with high mileage or will be fine if it's motorway miles and looked after.
so my question is how do i know if it's motorway miles? or should i just stay clear of high mileage vehicles? if thats the case what is considered high mileage for a used car today of about 09-11 plates.
any help appreciated

Average mileage is about 12k per year so would be 96k for an 09 car. 90k is not high mileage on that car. If it's otherwise in good condition then 90k mileage is nothing to worry about.
90k would be high mileage on a 2 year old car - but if you're doing 45k per year it's very likely to be easy motorway miles.

I mean 90k is 90k but as an average for the age of the car, it's about right (give or take!).
Thing is as long as a car has a full service history then there's no reason why it shouldn't be relatively hassle free. My daily car has 110k on the clock, never seems to flinch and everything works.
You could argue that a car with 60k on the clock could be in the territory for an expensive service, things like cambelt or maybe clutch etc. If all those services have been done, then the mileage won't really be an issue.
