WRC Rally GB 2005
Discussion
Apparently they are going to run the super special inside the millenium stadium! It's the first time they've ever run an indoor stage in WRC history.
Supposedly tey will be able to support 50,000 spectators.

I think in principal this is great, and anything that gets any form of motorsport into the public eye has got to be a step in the right direction.
My concern lies with the fact that experience tells me that once the top WRC cars have been through a Cardiff Super Special stage many of the public leave to avoid (or join) the queues to get home. And generally, it's a pretty short lived affair, especially on a stage only 1km in length.
Let's hope they make the entrance fee cheap enough to really pull in the crowds, or maybe they could adopt something I saw in Argentina a few years ago, where every car ran the super special twice! (Not much fun when you have to pack up the timing gear after last car and hike it 250km up the country ready for a 6am deployment on the next day)

WRC? Pah utter rot. Rallying for the Playstation generation.
Bet it still hurts when they hit trees too!![]()
Trees are not good targets, especially when you've been out of bed for 36 hours! There is not much between you and the tree in a Stratos!

Get back to when men were men and sheep were nervous.
Ecurie Cod Fillet rules!
Ecurie Cod Fillet???? As in Backfire?
Ecurie Cod Fillet as in the halcyon days of Muttering Nudes events. It all stemmed from Fidlers Fish & Chip Emporium. Roy Fidler works Triumph driver. Used to be several teams entered ECF1 ECF2 and so on, usually one of them won the team prize. Ever heard of Don Barrow? (I know silly question
) OK I'll go and shut up and rejoin the other old
has-been phartes in the corner.
Glad you're OK after the Astra/tree incident though. Not keen!
Went to the Race of Champions in Paris' Stade de France in December, and it was a fantastic family spectacle for 68,000 fans. Whether it would work in Cardiff is a question that can only be answered on the day. Will they be promoting it as a family day out?
Hardened Rally fans will probably want to stay in the forests.
