IT jobs in motorsport / car industry

Hello folks

I have been working in I.T for about 5 years now, I started as an apprentice and am now an Infrastructure Engineer (3rd line). I am massively proud of this achievement, as it has been a slog and I've had to sacrifice a lot to get here. But I have a problem, recently I have started my Infrastructure job and firstly the job is chuffing boring, and secondly I just can't see myself sitting behind a desk for the rest of my life.

I like working in I.T, so far it has been very good to me learning this trade so I would like to stick with this. However, my only real passion in life is cars, they are my reason for wanting to push myself every day at work. Now my question is as follows -

Do I.T jobs exist in motorsport? If so, how does one go about applying for them? Is it a case of knowing the right people? Or just firing over a C.V?

I'd absolutely love to do a techie job, but with cars, I would be in heaven and who knows, I might not even get the Sunday night dreaded work feeling.

Of course they do...though they will pay less than comparative private sector and a lot less than contracting. My husband interviewed with Mclaren F1 for Sys Admin role this summer. But, in the end, the fact that it would be for an f1 team didn't outweigh the fact it would have been a 2/3 after tax pay cut. I, however, just had my second interview with another British F1 team as an IT PM, and have my fingers crossed for good news because I place a good deal of value on who I work for and what I do and not just the money.

Sites like http://www.racestaff.com/jobs/ are useful. I also looked at the various F1 teams based in UK sites and career pages. The likes of Prodrive etc.... also have IT roles. There are tons of IT gigs out there. But, I do think generally pay is less so it will depend on what you value.
