Hi,
Really don't know what is happening to humanity, can't believe other people just don't give a sh*t anymore.
I generally work away from home so am only home on the weekend. This Sunday just gone I parked my 2008 VW Passat on my drive and in the morning discover that someone has taken the driver side wing mirror off. It's been taken off cleanly so am assuming it's been stolen to order, it's only a 2008 plate car and am amused/confused that they would take parts from a fairly old car.
I've been quoted some astronomical prices to get it repaired but unfortunately will have to go through insurance, though still a hefty excess to pay. I just don't get a-holes who go round doing this, wish I could have caught them in the act so that I could have vented some anger on them.
I live in a fairly nice area and have never had any issues previously, the wife wants me to get cctv now.
Rant over

£50 got me a 2nd hand, heated, folding, powered and the correct paint colour, wing mirror for my wife's car when it got knocked off.
its not exactly hard to fit- worst case scenario is you need some odd torx bit set.
you'd have to get the door open to remove it though. how they took it off from a closed vehicle ?

I keep my caravan, [flamesuit] in a 'secure' storage facility about 4 miles from where we live. It's an old thing and not worth much but it does the job.
Got a call a wee while ago to say that the rear window was missing from my 'van, there'd been high winds so they thought it might've been 'blown out' so went and took a look.
No; Some scumbag(s) had nicked the rear window from it! Not only that but they'd bust the door lock in gaining access but I managed to repair that fairly easily.
So I went on Ebay and found one for £50. It was delivered the next day and had it fitted the day after that so why would the knuckledraggers have gone to all that trouble when they're readily available for not a lot of money?
And who nicks a plastic window from a 'van anyway?!?!!??

The one you bought was probably nicked from someone else, or may even be the one you had nicked. Got a call a wee while ago to say that the rear window was missing from my 'van, there'd been high winds so they thought it might've been 'blown out' so went and took a look.

That's progress for you. A door mirror used to be a (grey) plastic housing with some glass in it, and if you were lucky a plastic stalk down by the A pillar so you could adjust it without having to wind down the window and get a wet/cold hand. Now they are heated and adjusted by electronics with memory settings for different drivers so cost the same as Friday's shed of the week to replace.

As others have said, just go on eBay or Parts Gateway or somewhere.
