Help with brain game question

Hello everyone! Been a while since I posted or replied on PH but having recently downloaded this app. and becoming stumped on question 90 of 100 I thought who best to turn to than the all knowing, powerfully built members of PistonHeads...

The app. is named Tricky (version 2 or 3) and its a combination of 100 questions comprising of various 'brain-game trivia' of which the picture I posted is a screen shot of the question and a screen shot of the clue.

Also, it doesn't seem to be a trick question in that it does not allow you to grab the actual letter Y and do anything with it.

Juliet and Spruce

3 is the correct answer. It's interesting how you both came up with 3, Spruce however made the obvious sense to me once I saw how you came up with it. I don't know how I missed it! It was truly puzzling to me. Thanks both of you!
