m25 jnt 12 southbound variable speed
Discussion
driving to devon last night at about 10pm, highways decided to shut the m3 from the junction 12 turn off, the gantry just before the exit had 60mph, as I was towing I was only doing about 55mph anyway, then I couldn't work out if the junction was shut or not as it didn't say if it was west or east. so I moved over to the turn off for the junction and the gantry then had 20mph in the lane I moved into, I braked but had cars behind me and the other lanes all had 50mph above them, I was going through at about 35mph, does anyone know if that gantry has a camera on it? didn't see any flash and street view doesn't show it having one, but that is 12 months old.

it was either this gantry or the one before, cant remember now, was too busy trying to work out where the diversion was trying to send me

Handy page for future closure/journey planning info, covers the M3 as well as other high profile routes

There is one around there but I'm sure it's further back than where the 20 was. You'll be okay anyway as they had differing speeds across one gantry which they aren't suppose to do. You would have noticed the flash as its bright at night.
For future reference if it shows M3 closed it will be more than likely the southbound(westbound) carriageway towards jct 3 as this is the smart motorway upgrade.
