Anyone here got any video clips of Oulton Park Island circuit???

Got a race there on Monday, and am unable to test on Saturday - have never driven Oulton before, so I rang the race school this morning to see if I could do some laps in a school car, with one of their instructors, offered to pay a good rate. The jobsworth on the end of the phone couldn't be arsed, so I'm stuck!!!

Any links appreciated.

Evening Sparkey,

Look out for Alfa #49 in the Class 'F' race. The one weaving all over the place 'cos I've never driven at Oulton...

Now then, do I turn left...or is it right???

Evening Andy,
Peter Woodard tells me you were champ last year! Are you not racing this year then???

I shall be there on Monday. The last weather forecast was showery rain all day, so it could make things interesting.

... hi garrett, aiming to do some modified races later in the year.

Oulton is superb in a FWD car (unlike the understeery Brands Indy), you get a real sense of speed as the barriers/trees are quite close in some places. Envious you are doing Island as I've only ever done Fosters in my time.

Best of luck and say hello to Pete for me please....

Last time I did Island circuit in the wet I came off at Island bend on 3 successive laps! Kept the marshalls amused at least. I actually prefer Fosters or the International circuit to Island, but they're all pretty good.

The main bend where time can be made up is Driuds. If you can get that right it can give you a few mph extra on the straight to set you up for a passing move at lodge if you're brave enough.

Well I buggered up my engine/gearbox/cluch/flywheel or something by selecting first gear at an inopportune moment which ended my race (I told you Island wasn't good for me!) Engine (brand new first race out) severely overevved and now isn't connected to the back wheels. Before that I was having great fun have made up 7 places in the first 2 laps.

So I'm having a beer and a moment of quiet reflecion.....

Qualifing. lost 5 mins qualifing cos stuck in drivers briefing.why do they last so long?came out to find everyone else going out to qualify.oh s**t.mad dash to get in car and out on track.push too quick on cold tyres, result quick trip to grass going down cascades.or it could of been sloppy gear change causing back end to come round.lap ruined.next lap spent waitng for grass/mud to get off tyres.then loads of yellow flags for rest of session.result, tail end of field.
Race.great start past about4/5 cars going through old hall and cascades upto island hairpin.got up inside and gained another place or two, then screwed up going down to second.Result major over rev and not so nice a noise from engine.managed to keep going for another 8 laps then retired ,engine noise worse.suspect bent a valve or two.
oh thats racing i suppose
hope to see you at oulton soon sparkey.
