Anyone got any recommendations for really high quality belts to be worn with suits?

Yes, I have several Canali Belts.

They're pricey I know, but they're beautiful and finish a well-cut suit perfectly.

I recommend.

Do a search on here for 'arm belt' that might help.

I bought a couple from here Dent's belts very nice they are too! If you Google 'English made leather belts' you'll get some good results, with high quality bridle leathers, linen thread etc. being used and a choice of buckle styles.

I'm very happy with my Gucci belt. The buckle is subtle and the quality of leather is excellent. I have had several other brands including Hugo boss and the Gucci is much superior. I realize some Gucci products may not be up to PH standards but this belt is.

Need? No.

However, matched to shoes (and watch strap, if a watch is worn) a belt finishes it off properly.

That is not my point. A proper suit should not have the facility to host a belt

I've been really unlucky with a couple from them recently, they've split within 6 months (not the buckle holes for those assuming I'm just a fat bar...)

I have to admit that when I saw the OP I was expecting some negative comments!

Classic suits are not made with belt loops, rather, they have pull buckles on the side to 'take up the slack'.

It's very hard IMO ,to find a belt sufficiently understated to be worn well with a suit.

I understand this comment, but outside of Tom Ford very few off the peg suits come without the belt loops. The problem with the side buckles is that they mark the hell out of the bolsters of your seats.
