Intermittent HID headlight fault (W203 Sport Coupe)

Hey guys. Wondering if anyone can help pin this one down...
A few weeks ago, one of my headlights stopped working (factory-fit Mercedes HID lamps). I assumed I'd need a new bulb, but popped the bonnet to take a look anyway, on the off-chance. I removed the connector, did the old "blow on it" trick, and refitted it. Lo and behold, the light was working again!
Happy as a sandboy that I'd just saved myself a packet (HID bulbs are fifty-odd quid), I went on my way. A few days later, the other headlight stops working. Did the same trick. Light worked again.
Fast-forward to now, I've been doing this every other day with both headlights (they've never gone at the same time, interestingly). Every time I remove and refit the connectors, they work again, for a day or so.
In all other respects, the headlights work fine. The amount of light they give off is good (in fact, it's VERY good), and they don't flicker when they are working.
The intermittent nature of the fault is making me wonder whether it's the bulbs, or something else. I don't really want to be spending over £100 on new bulbs to find out it's not that.
Any help on this gratefully received!
