Anyone know how bad it is out there round Bristol at the moment? I'm leaving in about an hour from Bristol down to Cheddar. Question is A38 or M5?

Most of the motorway webcams are down, but the 1 or 2 that are up seem to show a fairly clear M5:

Well, I took a gamble and went down the M5. 'twas busy and did stop a couple of times but only took an extra 10 minutes from the normal run

Looking at the news I missed the major problems that have now gridlocked the M5 in both directions.

Where's that? I'm planning a trip to the Peak district tonight

Far too late now, but I live about 5 minutes off of the A38 and 20 mins from the M5. Went to go up the m5 from Junction 29 today and it was just awful...! Ended up taking the A38 for as far as I could before cutting across the A303...Didn't fancy the M25 Gridlock.

I ended up leaving at about 10. Everyone was making sensible progress, and it only took 2 hours door to door
