Hi,

Thought I'd ask the question here as I couldn't find a conclusive answer on Google.

Do cameras flash even if under the speed limit? The yellow jobbies (Gatsos?)

I was traveling past one last night, know the area and know it's 50mph speed limit with cameras. and down a hill, I was doing 42mph. No cars in front, but it flashed when I went passed! I checked behind me, and 2 cars also came past it after me, doing approx 50mph, and it didn't flash them though?
I'd just come back from Welwyn, and was taking it easy as no rush, late in the evening.

Road in question in case anyone knows it is the A45 London Road, coming from Ryton way just before you get to Toll Bar Island in Coventry.

TIA

I've only ever seen them flash when people are passing and exceeding the limit

I've been flashed under the limit. Years ago. Nothing happened.

That's a facing one isn't it (truvello)? I've seen it flash people a couple times, but only when they've been over the limit. It didn't seem to bother them though, they must be local.

I think the speed cameras have been deactivated in and around Coventry. People don't seem to acknowledge them anymore.

Thats heading the other way, towards Ryton, the one heading to Toll Bar gets you from behind.

I did think that re the cameras, in as much as when I stick to the limits where cameras are, people go past me at twice the speed laugh or, flash their lights to get me to get a move on.

Cheers for the replies guys.

Judging by the number of utter spacktards who slow down to at least 10mph under the limit when they pass one, many people evidently think they do.

...And the ones who are in a 60 limit, but suddenly think they're in a 30.

Anyway, I think this is in the wrong section.

It has happened to me before - 66 in a 70 on the A90 going towards Aberdeen. even though you know you are under the limit it doesn't stop you worrying about it for 3 weeks afterwards....

I've had a couple flash me in the past once going in the wrong direction. If you where under the limit then I wouldn't worry especially if it's the type that have the measurements lines in the road as it will be easy to prove your speed.
I have to admit, having discovered two on the A3 that did this consistently, I would intentionally and cruelly set them off whilst travelling in the opposite direction.
I believe they were finally fixed, but not for a good couple of years or more if you can imagine it.

Sorry
