Failed MOT

My 97 4.0 Chimp just failed it's MOT. Nothing too bad, but was wondering if anyone knew what the donor parts are for the following:

Steering rack gaiters
Front brake flexible hoses
Track Rod End (Lockheed TA676 or Unipart GSJ119?)

Any advice on bleeding the brakes?

Ref the gaiters, I just got a universal pack from Halfords at £5.99 and it fitted a treat. Dont forget to mark where your track rod is set with tape so when you put it back you dont need to get you tracking re-set.

Ref the brake bleeding. Again Halfords do an easy bleed kit (Gunson) it's absolutly ace, used mine for the last ten years, well worth it. Also a one man job.

Thank you so much for the advice. Do I have to bleed all four or just the front two calipers?

Also, any idea where I can get the flexible hoses? Is there a Ford part equivalent?

I went for Goodrich stainless braided hoses. Got them from Peninsula.

I would bleed all four, that way you will have flushed out the old brake fluid and replaced with new.

Start with the wheel furthest away from the master cylinder and then each wheel in turn as they get closer!

As you are doing this anyway why not go for braided hoses and change to dot 5.1 fluid, esp if you think you might do a trackday or two, the extra cost will be worthwhile

re. trackrod endS, i recently got some from a local motor factor following a full service when the garage missed the gaping holes in mine! - dont know why i bother just for a stamp in the book! TA687 was the part no i used - got some Quintin Hazell ones for less than a fiver each so wont break the bank!!

Just visited Halfords and they said they do not have "Halfords" brand universal steering rack gaiters. They only had two types - QH type QG1071 and QG1094, neither of which looked like they would fit. They were priced £7.99 and £8.99 respectively.

Any ideas if yours were Halfords brand or do you have the part number?

Thay aren't a whole lot more from the TVR dealer network either IIRC.

I've managed to source replacement gaiters from TVR Parts. Apparantely they come with cable ties to secure, but the originals have metal jubilee clips - will the cable ties suffice?
