Something for the weekend?
Discussion
Just thought I would ask around and see whats happening this weekend? Now we all have four days off there is no escuse for not doing all those jobs we have on our lists is there?
I am planning on fitting my new throttle cable and starting to clean down the engine bay.. then going out to make it seriously dirty again with a day of fun driving!
What jobs are you doing?
Polite answers only!

Where to start? Need to stitch the back window back in, replace the plugs (and hope this cures the pinking and misfire and huge clouds of smoke out the back under acceleration
), make up a new radiator duct and try to route a new air intake from the AFM down to the radiator duct. Then clean the oily fingerprints off the insides of the engine bay and take it for a gentle
pootle round Milton Keynes to see whether this had made any difference to the intake temperatures and whether it has helped with the pinking. Only four days left, I'd better get started!

Although in practice that means loosening the centre console, pulling it a couple of inches forward and trying for a few hours to get to/undo the sodding nuts holding the switch-panel on. Getting annoyed. Swearing a lot. I do mean A LOT. Giving up and getting drunk.

You're switching to your old panel first then Adam?

The original one was re-veneered by the previous owner so I want to take it off in one piece - just in case. Weather looks quite nice now - might have to go for a drive instead.

The temperature gauge is jumping up and down.
Before you get too uncomfortable under the dashboard (or after, if I've timed this right
) it would be worth checking the wiring out by the sender. On mine there was a rather manky bit of wiring where an inline resister had been fitted into the loom, the wires are going brittle from the heat and it's all rather nasty. Jumping up and down does sound exactly like a wiring problem and this wiring would be my first suspect.GreenV8S said:

No, I'm still at work today

That sounds like a fairly accurate description
but there doesnt seem to be an inline resistor. Probably hidden somewhere under an equally manky piece of insulation tape no doubt.
Good idea.
