Real Time Traffic Info and SIM cards

I have the latest PCM and sat nav etc (car is a 991.2). The OPC put a free SIM card to get me started which I think has now expired. I believe the data card enables online services such as RTTI, Google searching etc. I have a couple of questions:

Is the Porsche RTTI just a bit rubbish? Compared to the equivalent BMW offering it has practically no info, and yet I believe they charge for it after the first year. I can't help thinking it isn't working properly - it's about as good as TMC. Interested whether others find it useless, particularly in comparison to the BMW system.

For those that have the in car SIM, what sort of data are you using on the basic features? Just trying to work out best approach to tariff for having a card in the car.
