Vaguely remember him checking originality of a Jaguar he was restoring via Triplex date codes on each piece of glass.

Just done this on my car and glass seems as per manufacture. Therefore, one of the most trivial niggles that has entered my sad existence has been put to bed.

Yes, he rebuilt his E-type not once but twice. The first time he got well and truly screwed and sent it to Martin Robey for the second rebuild, then got bored with the car because he didn't use it enough and sold it for over £200,000. He contacted me over an article and one of the original Shelley jacks he was seeking.

I was told about this when I had a mild restoration done on my Jaguar a year or two back. The man who did the welding on it dated the glass to September 1992 - the car was built in early October 1992. I was impressed!

Glass made August '95 & car delivered in December '95.
