Penalty going up for using phone whilst driving
Discussion
Penalty goes up tonight from £100 & 3 points to £200 and 6 points.
This seems excessive as a new driver in their first 2 years will loose their license instantly.
Now I never use my phone in the car and hate to see it when a passenger, but how is a phone anymore distracting that a fancy headunit or paying looking at a satnav.

Seems reasonable that it's more than speeding. I would bet most people in the 3 points speeding range have made an error, either not realising what the limit was or how fast they were going. Every person picking up their phone makes a conscious choice. From the driving I have seen I would say it is also far more dangerous than going a little over the limit.
