Making a Violent Citizens Arrest on an Incompetent Postman
Discussion
Ok, so although it would make me feel better, I'm not really going to make a citizens arrest on a Postman... I am however, utterly fed up of their endless pathetic incompetence.
Thing is, what can I even do about it? It's not like there's a viable alternative to the Royal Mail...
So far, in the last couple of years we have had:
Parcels abandoned in various bushes and hedges.
Parcels pushed through open windows (smashing ornaments in the process).
Parcels left on the doorstep in the rain (no card left).
Parcels left on the doorstep in the rain (with card left).
Parcels placed in various outbuildings that were behind closed / locked / bolted doors.
Parcels recorded as "signed for" without my signature or my receipt of said parcel.
Parcels lost and claimed delivered.
Parcels thrown through the front door (which they opened, before running off leaving it wide open).
Vans reversed up onto our land knocking over tubs.
Vans reversed up onto our land putting "wheelspin marks" into the gravel paths.
Vans reversed into my garages.
Basically, just constant incompetence and stupidity... I have had several emails back and forth with customer services / CEO of both the PO and RM... and an unbelievable number of free books of stamps to "say sorry" along with two claims where they have paid for the damage they caused.
Also had the local manager around to promise they would sort it out... in between the endless repetition of the above actions, just mind-numbingly dumb things, on a weekly basis.
But for God's sake, SURELY it is genuinely just this simple???

""Deliver mail... leave card if nobody home... don't break in to houses / don't fake the signatures""
I'm currently waiting for some info on why the item they tried to deliver last week, then claimed to have lost at the sorting office, is now listed as delivered WITH MY SIGNATURE on Saturday, when I wasn't at home all day and no such delivery was ever made.
Please can someone start a new postal company?
I think the old one is broken.
It's bloody irritating to have to put up with this s
t, I suspect there is basically nothing that can be done, unless I simply stop allowing anyone to deliver mail to me... not really an option.

Seeing that photo reminded me of a time when I posted some important documents in the same type of envelope, signed for next day delivery. The postie just chucked on to the floor of an open porch, didn't get a signature, on a day that just about pissed it down from sunrise to sunset. No surprise the documents were soaked and ruined. Sent duplicate documents in the same kind of card backed envelope the following day, signed for next day delivery. This time the envelope had been sliced open along the top with a sharp knife, then dumped again without signature request. The documents were left inside what remained of the torn envelope thankfully.I sent a complaint via their online complaint system, no acknowledgement of my complaint or response whatsover or to my follow up complaint. Absolute tossers!
OP.. You are a lightweight.
Every sodding day - I get a red rubber band dumped on my garden by my postman.
If there is ever a need for the death penalty in this country - it is for postmen and women - and LBGT and those who are gender agnostic, and others.
s
t... Any Postie that decides to make my path and front garden a graveyard for red rubber bands.
I am seriously considering to dump 100 tons of concrete onto the CEO of Royal Mail's front garden.
I have had enough of his company dumping their s
t on my land.

O/P - your postie might genuinely think he's helping you out by signing for stuff saving you going to collect it from the depot same with leaving it in sheds/outbuildings.
Leave him a note saying thanks for trying to help out by signing for stuff but can you card everything in future.

we have had three posties in the 17 years I have been in this village - they have all been excellent.
one of them even owned a RR silver shadow
I need to buy myself one of THESE posties.one of them even owned a RR silver shadow

There will also be a few people who are arrogant cocks who will get the job done by the book and the more the more time they have to waste travelling into the depot the better and if they have dogs loose on there property then they won't even get a delivery until the dogs are shut away or a box is on a external fence.

Signing for stuff that he's lost doesn't really help me.Leave him a note saying thanks for trying to help out by signing for stuff but can you card everything in future.
It's just a catalogue of stupidity.

Fair enough if he hasn't actually delivered the item .It's just a catalogue of stupidity.
Have you got a cctv ? sounds very abnormal that he's just dumping stuff on the doorstep and his managers aren't doing anything , our's would with that list of yours.
If he's hit your garage door and you have proof it's him he'd be off driving duties.
As above, leave him a note.
Our postie leaves stuff out the back behind the garden gate or in the wheelie bins...it's dead handy! Spoke to him about it one day and told him thanks v much, crack on! Smiley faces drawn on the cards and all. I've only ever had the benefit of it though, never really had wet post / lost stuff signed for.
Can't beat the postie back in Ireland; everything signed for & left in the boiler house, he even paid 40 euro import duty for me one day and just left a note saying pay him back whenever. Bottle of whiskey every christmas does wonders. The 'local' pickup depot is 40 minutes drive from the house, so it's a god send.
