Normally means that something is left open. Check the glovebox and centre console lids are shut properly.

nice to hear you have aquired a 996 cab. the alarm beep basically means that an exit point is left open or the glovebox or centre console but can also equally mean if the vehicle has a non standard hi fi system the same noise will happen as the hifi is linked into the security.

please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further info.

When I fitted a new hifi to my 996 (99) I had to put a bit of masking tape on the left hand side of the base unit where the alarm contact can be found. The two alarm contacts should be disconnected (by the masking tape) when the radio is in the correct place. Only use a small bit of tape so that if someone tries to remove your radio, the two contacts slide off the masking tape onto the side of the radio, to make the circuit and thereby cause the alarm to go off.

I was told by my local OPC that I would always have this problem with non-standard radios. But after a bit of investigation, I spotted the bit of plastic on the side of the CDR22 unit and put two and two together!!

Sorry if you new this already, but thought I would share this info anyway.

Thanks for all the replies, Guys.
It would appear to have been the center console, put the alan key for the roof in there and it was fouling the lock.
I'll be a Numptie then!
