Cayman GT4 questions
Discussion
Hi all,
Am I right in thinking 50 Cayman GT4's came to the UK?
There are currently 20-25 for sale in the U.K. At between £90-110k. Surely 50% of all owners aren't bored already? Are they just looking to make a quick buck?
Do we think the prices will drop or are they unlikely to go below the £88k that I've seen? I'd really like one but the current prices are really very high considering they are ALMOST in Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren territory and they are also close in price to some other very respectable Porsches.

No problem. There are more GT4s than GTSs, they weren't that limited as Porsche stopped making base/S/GTS models to increase supply of GT4s.
They're a great car, but as you say for £90k you're into the territory of other options. I think "Fokker" on here did what I would have done - moved from a GT4 into a 991.1 GTS for a small cost to change. A good way to get £20k off the 911!

595 GT4s were registered in the UK.
Prices will follow supply and demand!
Agreed. However, for the money there are few alternatives with the performance, reliability, usability and newness etc. Prices will follow supply and demand!
Long term I wouldn't be surprised if the 981 Spyder retained more value due to their relative scarcity compared to a GT4.
You might be able to get a Ferrari or Lamborghini for £100k but would you track it, put 5k miles per year on it and maintain it for a reasonable cost? - I suspect not. It could be a fair comparison if you just want an occasional Sunday morning trip or weekend away in the summer and plan on less than 2k miles per year.

!
Yet now there is a lot more Cayman Gts for sale than to gt4 of cars sold new ! The gts is also overpriced second hand IMHO and if the gt4 should be some £10-15k then so should the Gts!!

I always find this sort of thinking to be quite odd. There's an assumption that if the P car was the same price as the F, L and M car that the Porsche wouldn't get a look in. The GT4 is a great driver's car and I would be surprised if anyone said that one of the other marques at an equivalent price is better. I guess it's because some people feel the other marques provide more of an 'event' which is another odd thing to me as I like to go for a drive rather than an event.i would personally wait a few weeks to see what happens at geneva with the new GT3, and how that affects the current gt3 and gt4 market. But as others have said, still a great car, and even if there is a drop in values, the drop will be nothing like normal car depreciation, so still winning.

I'm in a similar boat here, really would like to get into a GT4 but nervous about taking a big hit if the market moves.
Would it be fair to look at 997 GT3 prices as some sort of guide into what these could be worth in the future?
If the market tumbles, everything will drop. However, there's no current indication it will - lots of people still want to own a premium/recreational/classic/indulgence car, so the market has a firm foundation.Would it be fair to look at 997 GT3 prices as some sort of guide into what these could be worth in the future?
But, even if it did, the very best examples won't fall as much as the mainstream stuff and, whether you buy a GT4 or a GT3, you'll have the pleasure of owning one of the very best real world cars Porsche has ever made.

This was my thought. Just picked up my GT4 yesterday, absolutely fantastic car. Good advice, this would be my hopes anyway

Cannot see a market shift on these, they are too good a car with very little competition in the same price range. Considering the numbers that have possibly sold over the winter months, there are quite a few happy buyers out there (including the above) that clearly don't have much concern about a sudden drop in value.
