Found a perfect e90 M3 convertible except for one thing it's chrome round the windows. Bugs me! Does anyone know how much it would be to change it over to the high definition shadow line ie black surround? No idea if this is easy job / cost of parts.

It would cost peanuts to get the chrome wrapped and it's a relatively easy job too.

I had the exact same issue with my Jerez Black E93 M3.

The cost of going for the full trim replacement was horrendous (especially as it goes all the way around the rear window on the convertible) - many many hundreds of pounds. Add to that the reputation of the HDSL not ageing very well.

I got it all wrapped in black for £190. Looks fine to me, and I can always remove it if it ever starts to look ratty, or I want the chrome look back again.

Hi,

A big +1 to vinyl wrapping the chrome trim pieces - easy, clean, cheap, done in about 30-45 minutes and can last for ages. This is exactly what I did back in 2008'ish on my E39 and it still looks fine not far off a decade later!

Initially, I too wanted the genuine black pieces and the cost of finding them in unbroken condition, then the cost of having a bodyshop remove the chrome pieces and then carefully fit the black ones was too much money.

I went for a gloss black vinyl, but I'm tempted to go for a matte finish as my roof wrap now needs changing as I had that done a few months before the window trims.

Cheers, Dennis!
