Found an S2 today, bright red with cream interior.

Got my money waiting in the bank just need to insure it and arrange a day to pick it up...

One thing that does concern me is the excess charged by Lancaster Insurance... £1000!!! FFS the policy is ony £840 and the car is only worth £5k

whats the deal here? Are you expected to pay a high excess if you drive a TVR? what is everyone elses?

I expected around £500 for young driver etc... is it simply down to make and model?

On the bright side, its well sexy, easy to drive, torquey, and it put a smile on my face wider than the windscreen. Needs some love to the finish and a good clean of the leather but its great.

I mentioned the noise of the exhausts (thinking they were pretty extreme sounding) only to be informed that they were fitted with baffles near the tips to keep it half tame

Ah well, I give it 24 hours before they are out! on second thoughts... maybe I should call him and get them removed before picking it up...

Try Heritage Classic Insurance - my 350 Wedge was £290 fully comp 5000 miles a year, free UK and European breakdown. Dad's S was even less again!

Well, I just had a Quote from Elephant... £881.35 10 month accelerator (I need to bump up my Bonus as i've had a company car so long) with my mum as a named driver ( knocked it down by about 10%)

So Much for 'classic insurance' got the excess down to £650 now as well.

Am I right in thinking Insurance companies are pretty good now with company car drivers... accepting a letter from the MD to count towards NCD?

Ah well back to the grind of getting quotes.

to be fair that doesnt sound too bad for the insurance. I was 23 when I bought the S3 and it was about £1200 with Privilege. The specialist Mannings/Sunninghill etc didnt want to insure me as it was my first TVR. It rapidly came down though and last year at 25 I was paying £550 on the Chimaera. I use Mannings for the TVR but the everyday hack is a celica and thats £326 fully comp and protected NCB with elephant - I'm 26 now so dont think thats too bad.
