What's peoples take on CF wing badges ? I saw them on a yellow GT8 last week and thought they looked good.

Along with CF mirrors and strakes I think they might look good on my Morning Frost V12.

I find it a bit disappointing that they have just machined a block of carbon with the detail rather than moulding it properly.

I made some Honda ones years ago and made sure you could see the weave on them as that's the point imo.

I'm not sure if I'm honest, I quite like the way that it is machined CF instead of a shiny weave. To me it almost looks a bit more industrial and purposeful. All personal opinion obviously.

They're a bit marmite

I know some people love them. But my wife doesn't as she thinks they look like something out 9year old produced frown

So the GT8 is initially coming without them (and it saves over £1k which is a bonus)

I like them, depending on the car they're fitted to. But blimey - are they subject to the 'Aston Tax' or what? - over £1200.

They were on my car and I had them taken off and replaced by the gold Dragon 88 ones. The car is storm black and the gold looks much better ( I think ). I just feel they look "un-finished" but as you say they are a premium product, just not to my taste.

+1, I agree. An acquired taste. Maybe appeal more to the " old fossels " out there seeing as it looks like its just been broken out of a piece of ancient rock. The price of em too is bloody mental. LOL

If you try to justify or apply logic to anything Aston, Ferrari, McLaren etc you're going to struggle as clearly none of if should cost what it does.

it's an emotional not logical purchase, nobody needs CF mirrors but plenty of people pay £1500 for the privilege wink

Personally I think they look cheap and child like produced and wouldn't have them if they were free - but as ever personal choice.
Funnily enough if weaved appearance like the mirrors then arguably a better match and more in synch.
But its your money Ry.

Fully agree - there are so many CF finishes on Astons these days - different types of twills, glossy & satin, then chopped for the consoles - the cars can end up looking like a dogs dinner

Plus to me they the CF wing badges look like they were once painted and the paint has peeled off

The only cars I can see them making some kind of sense on are GT8/12 as a sort of symbolic nod towards the weight saving aspects of those cars

The CF wing mirrors are £1000 not £1500, but I get the point.

I do like the carbon badges just don't see the value in them - they seem even worse value than the mirror caps as they are so small almost nobody (including me) would notice them on a daily basis.

In fact you can buy the official Gold Wing badges from AM for less than the Carbon badges!

Only £800 for the Gold badges : http://www.astonmartin.com/en/accessories/v12-vant...

Over £1000 remarkable, but people are buying them.

I don't know what the unit cost would be to make, automatic computer machining presumably, but perhaps £500 profit in there (remembering the VAT chunk).

I am sorry, but I am on the dislike side of the marmite.
To me it looks exactly as though it has been on a barn find, 40 years of weathering.

The conventional badge is the work of Birmingham craftsmen, at a very long-standing firm. Beautiful enamelling, oozing quality and skilled workmanship.

Only my opinion. We all like different things.

Agree, cheap and nasty looking to my eyes...weave would be a big improvement

It just looks like a mold for the proper thing.

This GT8 badge was the first time I saw one at Silverstone last year.

I like them, I think the hewn from granite look would suit a V12 and I reckon they would look GREAT on a Morning Frost car, particularly with other carbon/black trim! I like the original badges on my Aston, but would replace them with the carbon badges in a heartbeat... if they were half price...

Interestingly, I don`t like the woven badge at all, to me it looks like a €5 aftermarket sticker that you`d pick up next to the key rings from a petrol station.

I think they'll look pretty rough when they start to rust.

Original all the way for me.

Personally I love em.
Just can't justify the cost.
I agree re look of standard twill carbon badges - shockingly bad idea.
