Working in London

Final day of my current job is on Sunday (bar staff/head of bar in a pub/resturant) due to them refusing to up my wage from minimum wage (new owners running the place into the ground).

Been offered my step mums flat in London (isle of dogs I think it is) as she lives in the USA so is barely lived in. Only looking to be down there for 2/3 months.

Realistically would I be able to get a bar job fairly easily? If so what are the travel costs getting around? Have a car parking spot right outside so will have a car with me but from what I remember of everytime I have been there its that cars are awful and tubes are the way forward.

You should be able to get bar work in Canary Wharf, and then you'll be able to walk to work. There are loads of pubs / bars / restaurants in Canary Wharf and they're always busy.

This. Great location OP to be based, the IOD. Used to be the kind of place you'd get mugged going thru on Google Streetview but has been largely gentrified now.

if you have a smartphone, download and use the Citymapper app to get around - I've tried a few and this is by far the best app to enter a destination and get the best public transport options for your journey

Don't bother with the car, simply not worth it. Use the tube or bus as necessary but you can walk to many places just as easily. You'll need an Oyster card to get around.

Given the places I've frequented in he West End over the last 7 years, the ability to "run" a bar is a dying art. If you can pour more than a single drink at a time and remember a round you'll be fine...
