Hi all,

I need to remove the rear antenna of from the N/S rear wing. Any ideas as to how you gain access to the rear of the antenna? Can you get access via the rear lamp unit or do you need to dissemble the boot?

I'm guessing it's not dissimilar to my R171 SLK. To get reasonable access to do anything with the aerial the boot trim panels need to be removed. Once you get the knack with the trim clips it isn't too onerous.

You can remove lower boot trims and then unclip the bottom of the side trim and gain access that way. It's fiddly but you can do it.

There are several recent posts outlining a tale of woe that commenced when a 3rd brake light needed changing on a R230 SL. Might be worth reading this, at least to get an idea of what not to do when tackling your DIY project.
