As do I Brian. I think it was the first DVD I bought. It has so many things going for it. Lots of car chases. Robert De Niro playing a mysterious character. A generally Noir feel to the film. Gunfights. Intrigue. A cracking film indeed. Certainly one of my favourites.

Isn't it an S8 though? And every car chase I've ever seen uses fake gear changes to ramp up the suspense
Movie mistakes said that in the scene where Sam & Deidre are sitting in the Audi spying on the villa, you can see that the car steering wheel is a 3 spoked sports type which is right for that model. Later just before Larry smashes it into the Citroen outside the cafe, there is a close up of him as he comes out of a side street, you can see that the steering wheel is changed to that of 4 spoke design used on the normal A8 and not on the S8.
The BM I think was a right-hooker with a dummy steering wheel on the passenger side so it looked like DeNiro was driving. Remy Julienne stunt team if I remember.

Hmm… also have it on DVD. Thought the plot and characters were very corny. Especially the Irish bird, Sean Bean and the bloke who double crossed them. The Russian bad guys are straight out of a 70’s bond movie (except they would have been cool in the 70’s). De Niro and Jean Reno are good and as you say it has a sort of Film Noir presence. I think that’s partly because of Jean Reno and the fact it’s shot in the South of France though.
Interesting point t1grm, the plot could be improved. Can't complain about the Irish girl though. I think we have to remember something here tho. As Lentilism becomes fashionable, films celebrating driving at high speed though cities and lots of shooting will become rarer, so we should forgive a few discrepancies in the ones we have

Can’t knock it for that I’ve watched it 5-6 times and each time I sit there and pick holes in the car chases but I still watch it again. So it’s obviously got something.
Regarding Film Noir I know bugger all about it mate. Just thought Ronin had a sort of “arty” French feel to it which as I say was probably down to Jean Reno and the fact it was shot in France

Yep its all in the extras on the two disk special edition, you can see DeNiro crapping himself when driving the M5

I suppose I get so into the film I miss things, However I would never have spotted this one.
"The car Deirdre drives in the final Paris car chase is an early-90s BMW 5-series. It is badged as M5, and has the correct wheels for this model. However in the tunnel scene, the dashboard shown is from a non-M 5 series, as all M models have red needles on the speedo etc, and this car has white needles."
