The Incredibles

Just saw it last night-what a great movie.
There seems to be a few children's movies these days that adults like to watch too-it started with Shrek.
and it is a very clever film in parts.
Don't think of it as a cartoon-it is a superhero movie with alot of good jokes.
Double recommended to any PH's who have to watch kiddies films with their children-you might as well be watching something decent.

I think it's an excellent film, but I think that this trend started with Toy Story not Shrek.
Perhaps you are right-but Shrek was just incredible for me the first time I saw it-I had bought it for my little sister for christmas then watched it with her-to watch a film like that when you haven't got high expectations is all the better.
The reason why there are so many animated films nowadays is that they aren't appealing to children only, in the past few years there has been
Ants
Bugs Life
Finding Nemo
Ice Age
Incredibles
Monsters Inc
Robots
Shark Tale
Shrek
Shrek2
Toy Story
Toy Story 2
...
A good indication of quality of film is the origining studio, most (if not all) of Pixar's stuff is top rate, Dreamworks however has a hit-miss type attitude - for every Shrek there is a Sharks Tale.
Robots is good btw, a throughly enjoyable 1.5hours entertainment, but it's not on par with Shrek or any of Pixars stuff (it goes for childish humour which is fine and makes you roar with laughter but there isn't the subtleness of Shrek2).

Yes a very big mistake for Disney is ending the arrangement with Pixar-such consistent quality
As for Dreamworks they may be a bit hit and miss-but their hit's are sublime.

I've seen all four (in fact I already own three of them) and I don't have children-I think Bug's life is the weakest of the set-overshadowed by Antz which came out at the same time.

There is an element of gargantuan egos in the respective heads of each company over the split. I can sympathise with Pixar. They have a sad track-record of short-changing their freelance (and staff) talent, and dislike Pixar's demand for a greater share of the profits generated by their animations.

Be that as it may perhaps Pixar deserved a larger share of the profits-What was the last good Disney movie made in house?

Reconfirmed to me how utterly dull Shrek & Shrek 2 are.
For instance when we went to see Shrek2 we all came out speaking of a different scene that others couldn't remember / hadn't spotted (the pepper spray still has me smiling). Story/Plot wise they are pants, but if you watch them as a specatacle they are great! Well S2 is, I can't remember S1 as I haven't seen it in a long time now.

Agreed Bugs Life is the weakest but £30 for four films I though was good value, you could not buy the three good ones individually for that price

You must be psychic. Just bought the DVD this morning and about to put it on – as a sort of post football pre Saturday night out relaxant
Looking forward to it now...
Just finished! What an hilarious film. A must watch. Why were all the female characters so sexy? Elastagirl, Violet and the bad guy’s side kick Mirage
Think it must be the voice over. I really must get out more.
On a different note I have Layer Cake lined up for when I get home from the pub.
