Boof shut with roof off?
Discussion
I have the same problem and believe it has something to do with the protective rubber which surrounds the boot latch. I think this interferes with the roof as you try to close the boot lid.
I am able to site the roof panel such that its notch is not lined up with the metal boot pin. Instead I am able to shift the panel forward and to the right such that the panel edge to the left of the notch rests against the metal pin. This has the effect of giving greater clearance for the boot latch and thus allows the boot lid to close.
My initial concern with this approach was that the roof panel would not be sufficiently secure but I have had no problems so far.

When I collected my 02 Tuscan a couple of weeks ago, the TVR dealer suggested that they unscrew the pin in the boot as it wasn't much use to anyone and could actually chip the paint around the slot.
Took his advice and no problems at all. Top stays put despite spirited driving and crap Kent roads. The top is a tight fit anyway.
Might be the answer?

mine has never had the peg so have to do the shuffle up thing to be able to close the boot. Sometimes I wish I had it however I think its probably easier to get the roof in the boot without it.
Although the rear window is able to go above the roof in the boot, I never do this as it can move around under enthusiastic driving and scratch the top of the roof panel.

Just a tip for Mk1 owners. Keep a towel or something in boot to cover roof panel. It is not unknown for the warning triangle to drop off and slide on the roof thus leaving lovely scuff marks. Not a prob for the Mk11 as they seem to have done away with the tringle. Al least I havent got one.

PS I too have done away with the pin and no probs.

Interesting Information
: the warning triangle in the MK1 (non-S) was a legal requirement - because.... if broken down on hard shoulder with boot lid open - the boot lid obscures the rear indicators because of their position under the roll over bar.
Apparently, displaying a 12" slightly reflective triangle suspended from velcro on the underside of the boot lid - WILL stop stray juggernauts from splatting into the back of the car. Amazing - but strangely true.

Mine wouldn't shut with the roof in either when it was delivered. It is to do with the possiton of the boot part of the lock (the one with the rubber buffer on it) and can be adjusted, just undo the two allen bolts and move it up a little and tighten it again, keep doing this untill it closes comfortably. I had the boot resprayed at the factory recently and when it came back it was the same story again, so I guess they line them up without the roof in the boot. Hope this helps.

Strange isn't it, I mean, why would you leave the boot open unless you were stood getting something out of it, in which case you would be blocking the triangle anyway!!
Mine is velcroed to the inside wing so it doesn't fall on to the roof - I can easily move it back if I brake down and need to leave the boot open!!
