Hi, I'm new to the forum. I wanted to share my experience of purchasing a new Range Rover Sport 2016 model (66 Plate) HSE Dynamic which I've had no end of issues with since the day I purchased it. The car has finance in place which is from Landrover Finance.

I purchased the vehicle at the very back of September 2016 and within the first 2 months I noticed squeaking at slow speeds. Turned out this was a known issue, there was a bulletin posted in the dealer network to replace break pads with a modified version which will resolve issue.

The car itself was poorly valeted from when it was delivered to me the day I collected it, it still had bits of blue plastic inside, clearly, it had been rushed (I'm just being picky here, but didn't look very professional, nonetheless).

Other issues include a burning smell from the engine first thing in the morning, dealer says this is normal and is because the engine is trying to warm up.

There has been an issue where part of the drivers door handle has fallen off.

The black pillars on the vehicle next to the windows are heavily scratched, I've done a lot of research on this and apparently it is a well known issue, many range rover customers complaining.

There has been an issue with the cruise control/incontrol system which has been very slow and unresponsive at times when driving the vehicle.

there is a couple of other issues to top the list off.

This has made me very disappointed in the vehicle and loose confidence in it. I don't enjoy driving it anymore.

Am I right to say to the dealer I want an exchange and want him to sort something out?

All the issues, whilst annoying are relatively minor and hardly grounds for rejection in my opinion.

The warranty is there to correct these issues and you are obliged to give the dealer chance to do so.

If the engine had failed or some other serious issue, or perhaps a string of substantial issues had occured then you would have grounds to conclude it's not fit for purpose and reject it.

You can try your luck but I suspect you will get nowhere.

Was the "burning smell" not a DPF regen?
