Does anyone know where the Tuscan's wiring harness is located? I'm hoping it's accessible from behind the head unit but before I yank it out...

Me thinks your gonna have to find out the hard way.

11 posts in 2 days, you may need a little more mileage before owners star imparting that sort of information.

Try you local TVR garage.

What exactly are you trying to find power for?

Erm, thanks. Last time I was there it cost me over 400 quid. For not very much.

In my DAB-related thread I said that I think the tuner has not been wired to the continuous 12V supply (memory). If the power for this device feeds from the harness then it may be easy for me to reposition the wires. If not then, yes, I'll try my local garage.

You may want to give this guy a call,

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=13&t=165530

Link is on the first post, he should be able to tell you exactly what colour wire your looking for.

Okay, thanks, I now understand your point. Naive question...

The permenant positive wire behind the
radio is normally yellow same as the wire
from the wiring on the stereo itself.

I've booked Carl for the week after next. He's going to fit four MB Quart speakers in the rear, re-wire the power for the DAB tuner and provide a power spur in readiness for the advent of Pioneer's iPod adaptor.

Did I take the easy route or what?

He mentioned a forthcoming SatNav job and I guessed he was referring to you.

Is it simply a case of replacing the head unit or does SatNav require a more fundamental change to your Tuscan?

It's primarily a head unit change, plus a lot in discreet wiring mods, rear view camera, voice command (if it can hear me over the sleeved exhaust) 4 Quart speakers, speed impulse conditioner, plus a navi/hidaway box extension lead. (WETFTI! sounds good though )

Appears to be a two-day ish installation.

As I said

Carl Baker has done the deed. Because of (a) his generosity, and (b) a dud courier, he installed speakers worth nearly twice what he originally quoted. He repositioned the tuner and aerial, sorted the tuner's power supply (no more lost presets) and prepared cabling for the forthcoming iPod adapter.

Immaculate job as far as I can tell. Everything's invisible (apart from the speakers, of course ). You wouldn't know he had been near my car.

I must have pressed the right buttons because I was even given a free CD of his former band, "Failsafe".
