I have a strange urge to revisit my motoring past, between 1981 to around '89 I owned several Citroen Dyanes including a lhd Accadiane which ws my favourite

I still have the owners handbook for my first, a '73 model with rare centrifugal clutch. Am I mad to even consider going back to sample 2 cylinder motoring again.

They are plenty of money and parts prices are high for what used to be a very cheap car.
A genuine front wing is something like £400+ as an example
Good news is almost everything is available
With prices like that I'm not surprised.A genuine front wing is something like £400+ as an example

I'd really like another 2CV for cheap, trouble free trundling around but my wife absolutely forbids it.
My OH had the same view on it when I bought our last 2CV. She hated it. But not as much as she hated me when I sold it a couple of years later. By then she absolutely loved it and I imagine we will certainly get another at some point, if we can find a solid one at a decent price. Blackpuddin said:

Found a solid one for £1500 the other day, but mention of buying it for the summer went down like a s
t sandwich. As an side my principle memory of the day Princess Diana died is lying in a damp lockup, welding a new floor into my brother's 2CV, while listening to the news unfold. According to the internet that 2CV is still alive, amazingly, because it was old then.
I agree they look better when tatty.

I am having one rebuilt at the minute for myself, 30000 miles, perfect original chassis, had been stood for 20 years, needed floors etc.

Just bought a pair of good front doors, those were £150 each, talking to the chap who breaks them he said the breakers are very hard to find at "breaker" money now....good front wings not needing much prep were also £150 each.
At those prices, was it the Oxford Abattoir, by any chance...?POORCARDEALER said:

There are very few people I'd trust to do the body welding properly. It's so thin that most welders just can't cope with it.TooMany2cvs said:

I was browsing the German Mobile.de site and there are certainly some high price 2CV's out there, l always prefered the Dyane, proper tailgate, spare under the bonnet so a useful bit of extra space under the boot floor and in the '80's the Dyane was slightly less CND.
They're faster too, and leak less ;-)Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
