I'm currently with M&S home insurance who have always had good rep for bike cover, however due to them changing policy and the need for me to change my policy from rented to owned, I may have to look elsewhere.

Are there any of the other home policies particularly good for bike cover?

I'd rather avoid having to stipulate each individual bike where possible.

I use John Lewis, not named up to £2k I think.

I added a £5.5k S-Works for only £60 extra, they also covered the bike whilst in a bike box on the plane.

I have claimed for a broken TV and it was effortless, premium didn't even go up.

Hastings Direct

Top home & contents cover including £8k over 2 bikes and it's less than £30/month. Really good to deal with.

Pedal Cover.
Was half the price of our M&S renewal with much better cover including up to £12k of bike and other stuff covered away from home smile

I would check what you are actually covered for very carefully.

Between my wife and I we have 5 bikes, totaling in value somewhere near £4k, these were all listed on our house insurancewith Admiral, on their Gold cover.

My understanding was that each bike would be covered for the values specified in the policy. However after another thread on here highlighted cover of garages and out buildings I rang Admiral. (my renewal was due too).

It transpires that I was only covered for a maximum of £1000 theft from the garage, they confirmed that this would include my bikes and anything else in the garage. So if I was burgled and they took all of the bikes, tools and my lawn mower I would get £1000 eek

I have since changed to nationwide and have adequate cover.

It's definitely worth checking your policy documents carefully.

ETA: Other thread

Pedal Cover sans doubt!

£15k worth of bikes insured world wide in or out of the home, in garage or shed, loss theft and accidental cover, public liability, new for old blah blah blah plus unlimited contents insurance with a few largish specified items again loss, theft, accidental new for old cover all for just over £400!

You can put a cap on contents at £75k and it reduces premiums as does contents only being less and theft.

Gone are the days of 10% premiums of the value for bike insurance!
