I need a accident lawyer.
Discussion
My wife had a minor accident recently where the other car cut through lanes and drove in to my wife's car. The other driver claims something completely different and have also provided a false witness. Anyway our insurance company isn't interested in finding the truth but I'm not willing to let it go. Can someone recommend a good lawyer for this sort of thing?
Thanks,
Fred

I sympathise entirely - I once had an "accident" where the other driver tailgated me for several miles, overtook where it really wasn't sensible to do so, then cut back in front of me and jammed on his brakes. Despite providing evidence that showed there was no way the other driver's fake witness could have seen what she claimed and the fact that her statement looked like it had been written by a 5-year old (it also looked suspiciously like he'd tried to commit insurance fraud previously), I was held to be at fault. Thanks,
Fred
Unless you have some pretty compelling evidence that the witness is false and that the other party is lying, my advice would be to put it down to "one of those things" and move on, whilst hoping karma deals with the idiot who was truly at fault. In my case, the other guy was later banged up after violently assaulting his wife - he got a ridiculously short suspended sentence, which was activated when he subsequently breached a restraining order. Felt incredibly sorry for his wife, but crossed my fingers that his prison-issue soap was slippery...

I have a real witness and pictures of the 'crime scene'.
Funnily enough since I wrote the opening post we challenged her account of how it happened (to our insurance company who then spoke to her insurance) she has now come back to change her account of what happened and dropped her claim!
I'm still pursuing this in any way I can, she not going to get away with trying to bully me (defraud me) and drop her claim when she realizes it's not going to work.

Therein lies lawyer's fees. Lots of them. Let your insurance company deal with it.Funnily enough since I wrote the opening post we challenged her account of how it happened (to our insurance company who then spoke to her insurance) she has now come back to change her account of what happened and dropped her claim!

Insurance company don't care though. She has basically tried to do us over in way that if she was successful would have cost us thousands in insurance premium in the coming years. I'm not going to let her just drop it because she decided it might not work.I realize it's going to cost me money. It's a matter of principle.
Are you bringing a private fraud case against her , what do you hope to gain if you win , money, prison sentence , I'd think either would be unlikely.
It might be a matter of principal but if she sees you spend thousands and she's still walking about at the end of it she'll have made a mug of you twice.
You're not out of pocket , let it go

We live in the most surveillanced society in the developed world. Why are so many people desperate to sign up (voluntarily) to ever more surveillance?
When it comes to accidents or damage to our cars, the authorities, supermarkets, car park companies never seem to be willing to help. Furthermore, with dash cams, we are in control of the footage and what happens to it. If you're not happy with what it records, you could just eat the micro sd card. KungFuPanda said:

Only cars will soon come with a compulsory active data connection. And Citroen have already hooked up their camera to the internet. We're wandering blindly into something that isn't what people thought they'd get when they started buying into the dash cam thing.
I will be buying a dashcam, and yes it would've helped for sure in this case. There is absolutely no question who was wrong. Buyt even then I would've happily taken care of my own damage as it was only paintwork on both cars. This woman has gone out of her way and lied to get out of something that would've cost her a maximum of a few hundred to sort out, probably less. And it was totally her fault. She didn't even need to bother about my car (which is way more expensive).
I am not looking to gain anything from this, I just don't want this mug thinking she can do whatever she wants and get away with it.
Ultimately I would love for her and her witness to stand up in court and repeat their lies. I'd actually prefer if she hadn't retracted her claim.

Fredt, whilst I understand your aim, just be grateful she has retracted her claim. Get a dash cam and now move on
Completely understand these point, and in a different scenario I would have more then happily done this.
We had already offered this woman a solution that was beneficial for her, even messaged her to check if she got home safely and so on. And she goes and does this.
