cat c but seems to have been rebuilt. Non cat would be priced at 20+ if not more so 15 doesn't seem outrageous as long as the repairs are good.
Not keen on low profile rubber but spiders do look good and its not too far away...

I didn't get very far...

"Total engine overhaul, all new gaskets"

Ooops - I'm sure it's just a slip on the keyboard but

The AJP8 is a gasketless engine

For the sake of clarity, I am not saying the engine doesn't have head gaskets (I know, I replaced them twice on mine), but rather TVR described the engine as gasketless. And the ad suggests that incidental gaskets were new, rather than saying 'new headgaskets'.

"only 232 left on the road"

I presume that means only 232 '96 4.2 Cerbs

If there were something really special about '96 4.2 Cerbs that might be excusable, but I think it reads "only 232 Cerberas left on the road", which is an alternative fact.

Paint looks great, so does the interior, but the oil pressure looks a bit low for a cold engine at idle (there's even frost on the ground).

There is something special about an early 4.2 clatter cam Cerb..

Thats not too bad? I think mine sits around that at idle
Whats the big silver button next to the key?

Car looks good, although could have spent some time tarting up the engine to match the rest of it.
Numberplate looks familiar?

£30K spent, so that's £5.5k on the interior, £10K on the bodywork repairs and paint job? Rest on the engine and bits mentioned? Doesn't mention any chassis work.

Worth a look.

And another early 4.2 modified with later lights front and rear. Making me definitely keeping mine original. Not many left wink

That looks like 40psi at 1200 revs on a stone cold engine, mine reads about 70 in conditions like that, 40psi at 1000 rpm when really really hot.

When I looked at my Cerbera, I figured on four things that mattered.

1. Engine
2. Chassis
3. Interior
4. Paint

At the time (about 3 yrs ago) I figured a good Cerbera would be worth about £20k so for each category it was awarded a percentage of a £5k price tag. Mine had lovely paint, an ok interior, an ok chassis and a dodgy engine. Bought it for £10k

As far as I can see, this one looks like good paint, good interior, unproven engine and unknown chassis plus a bonus prize of catC. I'll leave you to decide todays current value and what that bonus CatC percentage should be.

I'm with Byff on this.

I paid > £10k nearly 3yrs ago for a very tatty exterior and interior with a high mileage but looked after engine and a chassis that was in pretty good shape.

I spent lots of money on mechanicals, services, tires, brakes, fuel lines etc and have just had the bodywork sorted out. Will have a crack at refreshing the interior over the coming months but by comparison this doesn't seem like a bad deal for someone after having a good look over.

Number plate does feel familiar and shame to see an early cerb with the headlight conversion....

Saw this a few days ago...looks ok and bodywork damage only apparently....to be fair I think the gasket comment was with the best of intentions and referring to the heads but it was a "if you know the cerb you will know what I mean" comment.

But I'm a bit confused with the long list of "new" items and 30k spend (indicated as recent work not spread over its history) coupled with a start price of 15k, didn't see a reserve? Its a big gamble to spend that heavy when its cat C regardless of whats done and doing it in house as a side project. Probably a bargain near 15k if you want a sorted Cerb and its a long keeper.

Agree...why do people keep b**tardising the lights?

The lights?.. Because they look better 100% IMO I mean the originals were nice then but unlike the rest of the car that style is NOT timeless and I think the single unit no matter the condition of the car do make it seem older if not old... to me anyway but I can see why the classic look is wanted/loved

It depends a lot on the car, the colour and overall presentation as much as individual perception.

I see your car and think it's 100% right. I temporarily become convinced that I should do it to mine, but then I see it and the thing just looks so fking gangster and hard-nut, that I become convinced that I could never do it.

I really wanted the original lights, but sometimes I have a wobble.

Back to the car in hand from this thread... I like them, and they caused such a wobble. In reality though, I wish there was a different implementation and more credible options because either set of lights is very divisive.

I know what you mean about wobble it's just as cars get newer and looks change. I've always felt the cerbera has the most timeless stance of the tvr range but in single style seems aged next to the t cars and I don't think it should. It's always going to be personal choice and colour of car does impact but I remember when getting mug cerb I was looking specifically for the update to the lights and that was immediately after converting my dads S6 to the upgrade by central tvr which I thought took his '99 into tomorrow

I think the later, twin lights look the best. Mean and timeless - they even look current now.

My car has the original single lights and I bought the fiberglass pods and lights but then couldn't bring myself to change it.

I prefer the new lights and my car is now a high gloss black so would really suit the car, but I have a very early Cerb (AJP) and that's not how it was meant to be. There aren't many left so felt it should be left.

I'm as far away from purist as you can get with cars but it would be a total bdisation to change it.

I know I'm weird, but these cars are special.

Each to their own.

+1 about keeping it standard, not about the pods look good... each to their own.
Whilst the newer lights make it look updated, I like the old classic looks, there's so many british references to it, the lights especially.

Well it was myself that took a punt on this.

Picked it up Friday and have done nearly 500 miles in it so far. And so far so good, need to give it a service and a once over.

Had a good look at the chassis, all good. The valve train seems noisy to me however I don't have much experience with the AJP so will get someone more knowledgeable than me to have a listen.

My only complaint is the stereo is crap!!!!
