Door mirror removal !

Whilst parked in a car park today some low life decided to sit, or maybe stand, on my n/s door mirror today.
I found the metal casting (collapsible column) which is supposed to break on impact did just that! and it's just taken me a couple of hours to completely remove it!



Not an easy job, especially removing the door panel, you need arms like matchsticks! and the bloody plug doesnt fit through the hole in the door so all the wires have to be removed.



Anyone know if this casting can be bought seperately? and where I can get hold of one?

Or is it a new mirror???????

The tripod is available from TVR dealers. a search may even reveal the part number, think I found it on here. A dealer will probably know what you want.

Replaced a broken one on mine, what a crap job. Gave me the incentive + justification to upgrade to the later mirrors, & guess what - 6 months later tripods broke when removing old mirrors to upgrade.

I replaced my broken tripod which I purchased from Christopher Neil nearly a year ago - quite cheap. Bit of a swine to re-fit and orientate the mirror properly.

I took the option of drilling a hole through the inside top of the door to create access for the locking grubscrew which worked out fine in the end.

Just need a long allen key.
