Anyone used one with some success?

Myself and Mrs Starks haven't had a morning fumble since the kids change from cots to beds.

The boy is great as he refuses to get out of bed until someone gets him, but his sister thinks we need to get up at 5 every day.

My wifes been look at YT videos of Sam the sleep sheep and just wondering if anyones used something similar.

can't remember

We have a 2.5yo here, I know what you're going through! We tried a Gro-clock but he doesn't quite get it yet, hence currently watching some nonsense on CBeebies eating toast.

There's a Gro Clock in my sons room that he used to stay in bed till the required time.

Then he discovered lying. He now gets up and comes in about 5 mins before we would like anyway.

Cheers guys biggrin

Hopefully it'll help with the daughter getting up randomly through the night too.

We have used a gro-clock for a week or so now...after the first night she has got the hang of it.

Now at 7am on the dot she comes through to our room as "Mr Sun has come up".

If she wakes earlier she will play with a teddy or look through a book or something until 7am.

I am sure our son had fiddled with the clock because the sun seemed to come on in the middle of the night !!

In the end I took the handle of the door..

Another vote for a gro-clock. We've used it for our kids and it works well.

Don't forget there is a screen-lock function so it is more difficult for them to 'accidentally' make it time to get up.

We are slowly getting there with our Gro-clock, he knows blue means "night time" and yellow means "morning", I had to sit in with him a few times while he got the idea.

Gro clock worked a treat for our 3 year old. Then he turned 4, and started to work out that pressing buttons makes it 'orange'.

So, we locked it out to butting presses and now he just comes in complaining it's still blue. Effect well and truly worn off. It was a sweet sweet 18 months. hehe

Pretty sure there was a thread on here about 10 years ago and someone was locking his kids in their rooms with padlocks.

Through some miracle we've trained our boy to do the same, he's seven now and early wakes up before seven fifteen but will read or play until seven thirty quite happily. Think we are lucky on that front!

Assuming this isn't a joke, why don't you just discipline him and explain that he doesn't come in until it's orange unless he is ill or something.

No way I would be putting up with that at 4

As soon as they recognise numbers you can just use an old digital clock radio/alarm. We cover up the minute numbers and told our daughter (now 3) that it isn't morning until 7 ( o'clock) shows and it works quite well!

Obviously works best if you don't mind them up on the hour rather Han some other time.

We used to use plenty of Vaseline before sex in the morning.

A liberal amount applied to the bedroom door knob prevented the little bu99ers getting in! wink

Followed by post-coital viewing of Disney's "Tailspin" or similar with five in the bed.

Happy days! cloud9

We do. Of course we do. He goes straight back to bed until it's orange. But we are awake by this point.

I was just making the point that the clock works, but is by no means a permanent solution that works all the time and forever

We've got groclocks for both of ours, they work a treat.

Our rules are that they're welcome if it's "morning" but if not then they get sent straight back to bed. We always "lock" it as well after a few incidents of them changing the time.

It's actually worked really well, so well that when we stayed at my sisters we woke up and heard that they were awake in the next room, lay there expecting them to come in any second... Exactly at 7:20 (the time their clock is set for) they came in. My eldest had read the digital clock in the room and waited until it was "morning" before coming in.

Now all we need to do is cure his "problem" of coming to find us to announce he needs a wee! It's infuriating, he doesn't need help just comes finds us just to tell us. All the more crazy when the main bathroom is next to his room and our room is upstairs!
