CLK convertible roof issues
Discussion
Hi I don't know if anyone can help me, but I have an 09 CLK500 convertible where the roof wont raise fully. the windows drop and the rear window moves up then the cover starts to raise near the boot hinge but doesn't go any further and continues to whine a for a bit. if i push the down button everything moves back to the roof fully up position.
It had worked earlier in the day. an extra bit of info that maybe important is that the boot divider seemed to have a missing pin at one side which i had meant to replace but never got round to it and sometimes i would be warned that the separator needed moving.
Any ideas on how to fix? or any places in Oxfordshire that I could go to for fixing that are a reasonable price?

You may have a hydraulic fluid leak. If the boot divider isn't in place nothing happens at all. I had a pin missing on mine and thus had to be extra careful that the divider was fully 'down'. If yours is a W209, the hydraulic reservoir will be behind a panel just inside the boot on the passenger side. I can't recall whether there is a visible way of checking the level though. I had a leak and the problem manifested itself exactly as you describe.
I know this won't help you much, but when we first bought my wife's CLK, it had been little used and so the hood failed two or three times.
The car went into the local Mercedes main dealers (Poole), who took three attempts (several sensors/micro switches etc before it worked reliably.
Prepare for some frustration, sorry.
