Slow, laggy, easily confused, just generally awful, why do people bother with it - chrome/firefox/et al are 100 times better.

How does MS get away with such shoddy software?

People don't usually choose an OS because it has good built in browsers.

I like Edge; I've switched.

No doubt Chrome is still spying on me somehow.

Edge is faster than Chrome in many cases, uses less memory and even uses less power so great if you're using it on the go.

Still prefer Chrome as Edge does't have plugins available yet.

Certainly leaps and bounds ahead of IE11.

Yes it does, since the Anniversary Edition update. I wouldn't have switched without AdBlock.

Personally, I bother with it because in my experience it is none of those things.

Faster than Chrome and way less of a resource hog.

^ what does that have to do with edge?

It seems Chrome is fast becoming the resource hog nowadays.

What is the current 'browser du jour'? I've used Opera since V5 (now on V43) and I've never found it lacking.

Except that Edge has a completely new codebase, new rendering engine, no support for IE legacy cruft like ActiveX, BHO's etc. and is not even a Win32 application. It is a universal app and will only run on Windows 10.

So in actuality, you could argue that Chrome and Firefox are more like IE than Edge.

I always wonder what people see in Chrome, it seems slower than Firefox and more of a resource hog. I use edge on my surface as the battery life is better and it is quicker than Chrome.

Best think about Chrome is that it syncs across all my devices.

Educate the ignorant. How do I get the update, and how do I install an adblocker to Edge?

It's the number one reason I don't use it regularly.

Ooh! Nevermind. Have just found the extensions option in the App store. Whoop!

It works nicely with extensions, I didn't use it until they were available but its probably my main browser now. I don't think MS help themselves by releasing unfinished software sometimes.

This is my first post using Edge. I wouldn't by any stretch of the imagination call it fast but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now and stick with it to see if things improve.

Edit: I think a problem was that I had both Ghostery and Adguard. Having disabled Ghostery, it seems to be much better.

Okay, trying AdGuard now.

Can't see any difference TBH.

ABP are reporting issues with Edge so I thought I'd try AdGuard. Working well so far.
