Hi

my new PCH car (Skoda Octavia mk3 VRS ) arrives on Thursday next week from Hub Leasing.

i was given the the reg number last week, but when i go to insure it online no sites can find it, DVLA/Gov site also cannot find it

is this normal?

ive read they can register the car 1 day before delivery, if this is the case does it show on the dvla/gov site almost straight away? (only ever had 1 pch car before and was able to insure it well in advance)

I'd rather have insurance when the car arrives as its being delivered to my work and i need to drive it home.

Thanks!

Have you spoken to the lease company?

I might be wrong, but I'm sure if you rang an insurers you could insure it. You know what the car is, and what the registration number will be.

I'd say that's normal.

I've just checked a client's RRS that he collected on Wednesday. He provided me with the reg a week before and, as it wasn't on the database at that point, I had to ask exactly what it was - I'd just been told 'a very expensive Land Rover' by his office manager! - but having looked just now it's showing.

Is there not a manual option to put your car details in instead?

It's normal, when I sorted the insurance for my car a few days before it arrived it hadn't been registered so wasn't on any insurance database, it just means you'll get asked more questions about the details of the car when insuring it

Yeah, this is perfectly normal. My VW was registered the morning I collected it.
Did an online quote without the reg number beforehand, then completed the purchase of insurance with the quote & reg numbers over the phone. You'd probably have to do the same as the online purchase won't complete without a reg number and won't accept a reg not yet showing on the DVLA systems.

It's normal, it won't show up on all the data bases until it's been fully registered, and even then it can take a while for everything to update.

Just give insurers make and model details manually.

The day my car was delivered I was stopped by the police as they said the car didn't show up on the registration database.

Does it take a day or so to update?

thanks all

as you guys have said lease company said it wont appear online for a while

Swiftcover allow you to put the reg number in and insure it (without it checking DVLA)

This was handy as swiftcover were cheapest for me smile
