Why do some gen2 997s have gen1 steering wheels ?
Discussion
Why do some gen2 997s have the old gen1 style steering wheels, although they have the updated black centre console nav system and all other gen2 features.
Can the steering wheel be changed for a official Porsche gen2 one ? If so does it have to done by Porsche or can any garage do it ? Roughly speaking how much would the parts be and how many hours would be required to fit it ?

Depending on the wheel (i.e. pdk, mf etc) c.£600 for the wheel and maybe £350 for the airbag from eBay.
Any specialist can do it, less than an hour I think, including coding which may be necessary.
BTW, I don't think airbags are swappable been gen 1 & 2.

A few words of caution though - at or around 2010 the wiring design changed for the horn activation; so some retrofits need a bit more work.Any specialist can do it, less than an hour I think, including coding which may be necessary.
