One of the businesses I am involved with has a Wix website which, while functional, would benefit from a professional makeover. I'd like to stay on Wix as some of the tools it provides seem to have benefits, and it will make future changes easy. Can anyone recommend a professional Wix designer who can give it a re-vamp?

It's a domestic electrical contractor with some basic home automation services - we install Nest, Lightwave, Hive etc. So it needs to be very clear about where we operate and how to get in touch, with some obvious graphic pointers as to what we do, plus some sort of portfolio where we can keep on uploading photos of jobs we've done.

We're not changing our logo etc as it's all over our vans and paperwork, so no need for any 'brand' design.

TIA.

I realise that you said you would prefer to stay on Wix. However, its a platform is limited due to it being designed for people to do their own website design.

If you are considering paying someone to do some work, it would in my opinion be better to move to a platform where you have more options available. Perhaps have a look into Wordpress, there are loads of website designers and you can move your website almost any host.

I agree with the above. I've tried to implemented custom designs on Wix twice before and it would have been far easier/quicker/cheaper just to have used a platform that allows complete control over layout and style.

Why the hate for WIX?
I use it and it ticks most of the boxes.. (In fact all of the boxes I use it for)

I suppose if your only needing a ver simple website then it might tick the boxes...but then for that you could go to a hosting reseller and pay only a fraction of the cost for that simple website.

For anything more than simple then you will find it limiting in what you can do. For the same monthly price as their cheapest "Business" tarriff you could get some very good managed hosting on some decent servers.

It is very "pretty" and in reality the WYSIWYG editor is very good in Wix, but I wouldnt say any better then the sitebuilder you get at Pickaweb. Wordpress may be a little more fiddly to set-up but it will easily grow with the business and will be able to do almost anything you throw at it. Wix won't.
