Unfit for work
Discussion
So this isnt much an issue really -
First thing is - the person that cant lift - will this be the case ongoing or is it only temporary.
Who said they cant lift ? Do you have an occupational therapist that can do an assessment. If not then can you hire one ?

You need to go through the right procedures on this one way or another, especially if you are looking to terminate the persons employ. This you can do as they are no longer able to do the job that you employed them for and that would form part of a dismissal. but that has to be done to the letter of the law or you could be taken for unfair dismissal.
another thing to consider is that you have to take reasonable actions to facilitate the task, If it is considered to be beyond reasonable expected capabilities then you cant just sack em. It is pretty simple but needs a lot of thought and some advice from someone who knows employment law.
