Where did you progress to?

I'm currently in the trade and have been for the past 4 years. I've made a good salary (generally circa £50-60k), however am generally getting fed up and worm out with stress of commission and the hours (60+ a week).

I've just turned 26 and whilst still seemingly successful at what I'm doing I'm starting to look into options about where to take my career next.

Has anyone been in a similar position or got any advice about where to move on to?

I expect you could move industry into another sales role.. But it sounds like you want to move away from sales all together?

You may find you have to either make small steps into a direction you want to go (e.g. Do something on the side or shift roles within your company) or start at the bottom of the 'ladder' again..

I moved out of car sales two years ago, and haven't looked back since. I was only in car sales for around 10 months though, and wasn't as successful as you. I now work for a car auction doing an account management type role, which I really enjoy. Not a progression as such as the pay isn't as good as car sales (don't get me wrong the pay isn't bad.) But in terms of working Mon - Friday, and less sale pressure it is great.

When I was actively job hunting, I would get calls from recruitment companies suggesting: other sales jobs, recruitment consultant jobs, service advisor jobs etc. So it may be best putting your CV on a job board and seeing what calls you receive, as sales is a good skill set to have.

Are you looking to get out of car sales all together? as progressing to a business manager may also be an option, same hours I know but more group based targets etc.

Finally found a way out of the car trade after 25 years. It really is not the job it used to be. I now sell motorcycles. Better class of people.
