Hi guys,
Thanks Hoover for directing you to my pictures, they show the small amount of baffling I put back in the rear box. As far as I could make out, the front oval box did once have a single perforated tube along its full length, which has long since disintegrated. I removed the remains and it is now completely empty.
The exhaust is not too loud now, and I wish it were slightly louder, since I got used to it with nothing it before I repaired it. Any questions, ask away.

I had a new system made by a local Stainless Steel fabricator and I now have two straight pipes from the downpipes going straight through the rectangular box, these pipes have perforations along them inside the rectangular box only and the box has wadding in it. This offers very minimal silencing to be honest and the car is very very very very very loud. It passed the MOT but the guy did say that it's "too loud".
There is much talk on here about back pressure and without it a loss of performance. This isn't really the case, all you will notice is a change in characteristcs. With baffles and greater back pressure you get your peak of power at lower revs, without the baffles and the related back pressure you have a more free reving engine and more top end power and it is noticeable.
I've only driven the car once since fitting the new system and I did like the top end power it now has but others may prefer the peak at lower revs.

Ive just cut the top off the silencer, after checking the baffles they were pretty good no broken welds etc but on closer inspection I found two splits in the front oval section and I guess this was the problem as for cutting the top off of the silencer its a piece of cake now comes the interesting part welding it all back together I`m just using my small mig welder with argon co/2 mix,I`ll keep you posted

. Sounds like a bag of bones rattling on startup. Quietens down when everything warms up though.
