I got my trackcar MOT'd on Saturday...driving to the MOT center and back again passing an ANPR camera on the way.
The Car is SORN'd at the moment, valid insurance and now an MOT...plan was to tax it the start of April. Am I likely to get a fine for driving on the road without tax ?
Thanks

On a similar note, my car was taken off a SORN and was taxed on Saturday. On the DVLA site it is still showing as being SORNed with a note that the system can take 5 days to update any change in status.
If that is the case is it likely that ANPR would 'ping' me as an untaxed car and attract the attention of a passing Police patrol? I will carry the receipt of payment e-mail that the DVLA sent just in case, but the issue had never occurred to me until I checked the MOT date on line this morning that there would be such a time lag.

I had my licence revoked (in error) for about 5 years and was unaware. Passed many ANPR camera's in that time and heard nothing.
TX.
How would an ANPR camera pick up on who was driving thus display their licence situation? Unless intel was submitted it would not flag up.TX.

There are exemptions from having both tax and MOT if you are driving to or from a pre-arranged test (or to / from a place of repair after a failed test).
As long as the vehicle has been kept off the road since returning from the test, you'll be fine.

For those who may be interested the exemption is contained in the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 Schedule 2 Section 22.
If it passes, the vehicle should be taxed before it leaves the testing station. It would be down to sheer bad luck though if you got nabbed before reaching the Post Office!

..should be taxed before leaving the test station had me worried when the fine is 5 x annual...£2500. Reading the section I think I'll be fine...specifically states it can be returned. For those who may be interested the exemption is contained in the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 Schedule 2 Section 22.

(b)bringing it away from [F47any such test][F48or check].
[F49(1A)A vehicle is an exempt vehicle when it is being used solely for the purpose of—

(b)bringing it away from such a re-examination.]
Ah, you'll be fine.
I bought a British car in the Netherlands in January. It had been parked up there for 6 years. Booked an MOT in north Suffolk, then drove it back directly to the MOT station. M20, through the M25 tunnel, up the A12. How many ANPR cameras did I pass on that journey?
