I'm after a bit of advice from the collective please. I'm in the fortunate position of finally having managed to sell my house this weekend after being on the market for three months. After the initial elation has subsided I now need to start the ball rolling with the technicalities of it all. Have any of you used an online conveyancing firm for buying/selling? If so have they been ok or has the remote nature of the companies caused a problem? They seem a bit cheaper than going to a local solicitor but if the service offered isn't as good I'd rather pay the extra.

One fo my mates has just completed on a flat which they did online. They got e-mails and text messages when certain things had been done etc. They had no problem but I have heared other people who have had trouble when it was not straight forward.

I went 'on-line' last time. Don't think I'd do it that way again, it's a bit remote and slow. I live in Herts and they used a solicitor based in Coventry - hardly convenient for any urgent issues that may come up.
Better to have an office that you can visit and real people to speak to.
