My view of Rockingham
Discussion
All this in no particular order:-
The first thing you have to mention is the Noble owners, whether PHers or not, they all seem too nice for words.
Met lots of people "face to face" for the first time. Chillidog, Lucozade, Domcross, Matt Foulks and Thatphilbrettguy.(Say hello to your wife for me , Phil
)
One big black demerit point for Hunttheshunt for not coming up and saying hello
, I was looking forward to meetig you!
I liked the track, (drifting towards the wall is a bit spooky though) but I was a bit disappointed I didn't get to have a go at the switchback section that would have been just after the turn onto the oval.
I absolutly loved the bit at the end of the straight! Down from 6th to 4th... drift a lttle sideways then nail it before you can see the opening... screaming engine in 4th across both rumble strips, left and right faster than you can say it...snatch 5th just before the cones in track and power all the way round the long left to the next marker board! It pushed all the right buttons for me!
After the driving (of course) the next best thing for me was seeing Andy G again. What a shame this guy isn't on the scene much any more.
Meeting the regulars is allways a buzz, Justin, PaulC, Dan, Nathan etc. Justin, I'll post that photo of you I took while we were driving side by side, you're grinning like a Cheshire cat!
Paul, fantastic entertainment with the sound effects. Dan, absolutly everyone commented on how good the stripes looked. And Nathan, is that a regulation BMW haircut, or does it only come with the CSL?
I came away really stoked after the nice things the instructor said about my driving. I thought he was just pulling my chain untill his boss came up and confirmed it. And I think Nathan and Andy enjoyed thier little jaunts 'round.
When it comes time to change tyres it's going to be Corsas. I got fed up with the SO3s going off after 3-4 laps.
Thanks to Vegantune for the trackday pads - canged in minutes, and for trying to fix my door lock.
Thanks to Bob and the boys for fixing the door lock
Thanks again to Bob for lending me his Jag while I was witing for the service to finish.
I never went near the food all day (much to excited) which I hear was a good thing.
I agree with Justin in another thread, not enough awareness on the part of a lot of drivers re cars coming up quickly from behind.
nother demerit point to Charles at MV. He wouldn't let me drive thier M400 so I won't be buying one there.
I allways thought the 3R had power to spare, but after half a dozen laps you can see an M400 is a sensible option.
Lee, Simon and Stuart - thank you.
Martin.
PS - coming back yesterday, leaving Bilbao to get to Burgos I took the scenic route because it goes up the mountains "Stelvio" style. There is now a silver 911 turbo with a very large inferiority complex!

CSL only, the standard BMW haircut is heavier
Good to see you again, and I'd do the M400 springs & dampers if you change the tyres or you'll be hitting the bump stops once you have some heat into them...

NOOOOOO!!!!
Now I'm twice as sick!
October 28th...it's a date. (Not that kind of a date, but you know what I mean
) Martin.
Um slight correction there....I was actually the t
t in blue sitting next to you, but you know what I mean!!
I changed in to the t
t in red later when I gave Matt a lift home. Too bloody cold!!
He reckons you drive better than me...or was it loonier...whatever, anyway perhaps I could pick up some pointers on the 28th.
See you then!

I knew I'd forget someone!
Ian, it was great to see you and the 2nd best (
) coloured Noble again.
Martin.
Edited to add:- bollox...forgot Dom Cross too (must be an age thing) Hi Dom, sorry we didn't have more time to chat. I understand you've approached Matt about photographing you're car. Best advice I can give is "do it". If you you could only see the quality of the prints, instead of poxy 750mp wide jpegs, you wouldn't hesitate.

Great to meet you too Martin, and if I ever get married, I'll say hello to the wife from you . As it is, the girlfriend says hi
Ooops!

Oh, and has anyone spotted the mistake I made with half the photos I took yet?
What...you wasted half your photos on other cars?

Had a long chat with him Martin and he seems like a vert talented bloke with a camera... I'm convinced he'll go a long way in that profession.
I'm going to book him for a day and I'm bringing together a few toys
The M400, my aircraft, a couple of helicopters and possible an ex-RAF Hawker Hunter jet... oh, and an empty airfield for the day
I'll share the results with you when we're done!
Oh, forgot to mention a possible guest appearance from a friends Enzo
Dom.
