DB9 clear rear lights

I'm 50/50 mulling over whether to get a pair of these for my 07. However there appears to be at least 2 types, can someone give some advice? Apologies if the questions sound daft as I'm a relative newcomer.
1. Do the DB9/Vantage/Rapide share the same rear light set?
2. How many different types are there?
3. Is it a trick of the light, but some look like they have grey plastic surrounds;
and some black surrounds;

Personally I think they look " chavvy " but each to their own I suppose. One thing I do know is that they are bloody expensive to buy a pair.

I've just noticed that you consistently seem to get it the "wrong" way round and for some reason it irk's me to read them that way. Just saying...

I know, sometimes I look and think they look great, sometimes they look like an explosion in Halfords. I notice even Aston have abandoned them for the DB11 and Vanquish. However then I see a pic like this and it gets me wanting a pair;
Same colour as mine, and it has nice dark surrounds. Value for money wise I agree they are farking ridiculous, but that seems a common Aston thread. Umbrella anyone?

The original clear lights with the grey surround are available as a set of 3 lights (for V8 Vantage with 2 x rear and one central), these have been available for a good few years now.
The newer style clear light with the black surround were introduced with the Carbon Black limited edition cars, these are now standard fitment on V12S and are a good bit more expensive than the older style Clear lights.
These are NOT available as a 3 part set and have to be purchased individually.
I think they are all interchangeable between V8 Vantage and DB9.
I was also told that the newer style clear/black lights have better waterproofing than the older style to prevent water ingress and misting.
The clear lights with black surround I fitted to my car basically had black silicon sealant installed around the outer seams by the Canadian manufacturer.

I think NOT dear boy.
Choosing the right combination both sharpens the appearance and "modernises" the rear of the car (causing much fun & mirth when people try to guess the model year).
We have both a 2006 DB9 and 2008 V8Vantage.
Toro Red (obviously!) DB9 - with red lights - now clear with silver edge look fabulous. I have also changed all the grey fittings to bright silver too - which enhances the whole effect.
The SunBurst Yellow V8V came with silver-edged clear lights which we swapped for black edged examples. Blacked all the grilles etc - again looks fantastic - really contrasts the yellow.
So
1) they are interchangeable
2) they look great - BUT it's getting the right contrast/complimentary combination for you car
&
3) I now have a spare set of RED lights AND a spare set of SILVER-edged clear lights, all in perfect order if anyone is interested.
I fear they retail at AML around £1200 ? £180 for the clear boot light ??
I must also say, that 'Er Indoors liked the red lights on her V8V and I think the red lights also work well on the dark colours - especially blacks and navy's but immediately, you know it's an early car (if that matters). At The Windsor Castle 90-Aston line up, I was asked if my DB9 was in the wrong order because it looked a later model the cars it was sandwiched between! (Both looked great though in navy blue and black).

Yeah I will deffo agree with you there and on your beast. I'll go for " marmite " then instead.
Colour of car deffo dictates the effect.

I'm considering clear lights on my Meteorite Silver Vantage, but just can't make up my mind 
Currently have red lights which match the red calipers, but thinking maybe clear lights with matching silver calipers would look a bit more understated. Did a quick and dirty photoshop to see what it might look like, but still not convinced either way to be honest. Not ever seen silver calipers with anthracite wheels, so unsure if this combination will look good or terrible?

+1 what Loose cannon says but I would stick with the RED calipers and go for the clear lights on yours.
